This verse has always been a challenge to me. The promise is that we will receive power and the question that I ask myself is, “to do what”. It goes on to declare to take the good news to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth. Notice this it does not say Jerusalem and then as some would want to say and say “well it’s to my Jerusalem first then” but it does not say that. It is all at the same time. In the verse so famous it declares, “He loved the world” not just a little bit of it but all of it. The power He gives enables us to go to the world and the word declares, “whatever He calls us to do He equips us for”. He gives us power to go to the world with this good news and the results are up to Him.
